Due to a lack of funding, LINCS will not be offering the Summer Playground Program in 2025.
The Summer Recreational Playground program operates for eight weeks during the summer to provide children entering 1st – 4th grades at Wilson Borough and Avona Elementary School areas a safe environment for play, exercise, and building of social skills. Games, organized sports, arts and crafts, reading, and social activities are featured. Children have both structured and unstructured play time. Participants are also provided snacks and lunch each day.
The goal of the summer playground is to provide a safe environment for children during the summer where parents can feel comfortable that their children are being supervised while experiencing fun, healthy activities and to provide an opportunity for all children, especially those typically underserved, to be physically active while also learning and practicing positive social skills.
The Wilson Area LINCS Coalition does not charge students or their families for this opportunity, but only a limited number of participants may attend.
