The LINCS Coalition’s food pantry provides Wilson Area Community families suffering from food insecurity a variety of food options and other necessities. The number of families utilizing the service over the previous years has increased dramatically. The number of Northampton County individuals served in 2024 rose 140% from the number served in 2022. Our food pantry receives the majority of the food that is distributed from Second Harvest Food Bank in addition to retail partners such as Giant and Aldi.
The LINCS Food Pantry is open on Mondays from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm and is located on the campus of the Wilson Area Intermediate School. Food pantry parking is not permitted on school property until 9:30 am.
A current photo ID showing that you reside in Northampton County is required as well as the completion of a form in which all members of the household are listed and income is confirmed.
LINCS food pantry is open every Monday except holidays that the district is closed and when the district is closed for inclement weather. Check local news.
For more information leave a message at 484-373-6200 or use our contact form. The office is not staffed every day.
The Warrior Bag Program supplies weekend lunches to be sent home with participating students (children in need within the Wilson Area School District) every Friday throughout the school year.
Currently, the LINCS sends 60 Warrior Bags home each week. The program has been expanded to provide Warrior Bags through the summer months to supplement the Wilson Area School District’s summer lunch program. The LINCS Coalition also provides the Warrior Bag families with a Thanksgiving Dinner. The LINCS Coalition accepts non-perishable food items and monetary donations throughout the year to help support this vital program. The LINCS Coalition has an onsite walk-in storage room to house donations.
If you or someone you know could use a Warrior Bag each month, reach out to the school guidance counselor or provide your child’s information (child and parent/guardian names, grade, school the child attends, phone number) through the Contact Us link.
In 2015 through a grant provided by the American Heart Association and Easton Hospital, the teaching garden was funded and in turn built by 5th grade students from the Wilson Area Intermediate School.
The following year the garden was expanded through a grant by the WalMart Foundation in conjunction with the National Farm to School Network. The Teaching Garden is a learning tool coordinated with the 5th grade science curriculum to provide fresh vegetables and promotes proper nutrition. Students will plant, grow, harvest and taste the fruits of their labor.
The purpose of the teaching garden is to provide an interactive extension to the 5th grade science curriculum and to promote unique learning opportunities to experiment scientifically with the conditions of growing plants.
Due to a lack of funding, LINCS will not be offering the Summer Playground Program in 2025.
The Summer Recreational Playground program operates for eight weeks during the summer to provide children entering 1st – 4th grades at Wilson Borough and Avona Elementary School areas a safe environment for play, exercise, and building of social skills. Games, organized sports, arts and crafts, reading, and social activities are featured. Children have both structured and unstructured play time. Participants are also provided snacks and lunch each day.
The goal of the summer playground is to provide a safe environment for children during the summer where parents can feel comfortable that their children are being supervised while experiencing fun, healthy activities and to provide an opportunity for all children, especially those typically underserved, to be physically active while also learning and practicing positive social skills.
The Wilson Area LINCS Coalition does not charge students or their families for this opportunity, but only a limited number of participants may attend.

Wilson Area Communities that Care (CTC) is a group of youth, families, community leaders, business members, and residents from the Wilson Area School District and surrounding communities. CTC consists of a key leader board, to provide group guidance and organization; coalition members, to raise community concerns and develop possible solutions; and work groups that put the plan into action. Our members include WASD students, district parents, residents, local health care experts, law enforcement members, community leaders, and members of non-profit organizations.
Our mission statement: Wilson Area is an inclusive and nurturing community that provides opportunities for success, purpose and well-being to empower our youth to become respectful, confident and healthy adults, who contribute positively to society.
Wilson Area CTC seeks to combine resources and strategies within our group to address youth problem behaviors in our community. We have prioritized several issues our youth are facing, and are working to develop an evidence-based prevention program to remedy these issues. Based on the 2021 Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS) Study linked below, the areas of concern we focus on are: drug and alcohol misuse, mental health concerns/suicide risk, and engagement/belonging to school and community. By addressing these issues, we hope to reduce risk factors and increase protective factors for the youth in our community.
We analyzed data from the PAYS study as well as the St. Luke’s Anderson and Easton Community Health Needs Assessment to identify at-risk youth behaviors. Work groups also evaluated existing community resources and identified gaps in service. We then created the community action plan linked below. This comprehensive plan outlines our strategies to promote healthy youth development and prevent problem behaviors in our school district community.
We will measure the program’s success by reviewing future PAYS data, statistics from the Pennsylvania Uniform Crime Reporting System and pre and post surveys we conduct of students and families.
The LINCS Family Center received a grant in 2021 from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) to build community capacity to identify and implement programs and resources that ensure the well-being and healthy development of community youth. The objective of the Community Coalition Capacity Building (CCCB) grant is to enable community coalitions to recruit key stakeholders, collect data, and develop collaborative relationships with school districts in order to provide youth with supports, resources, and opportunities needed to become successful adults.
However, other funding is needed in order to provide implementation of programs and continue mobilization within the community. In 2023, the LINCS Family Center was awarded $30,000 in funding from the PA Commission of Crime and Delinquency (PCCD), to reduce violence in the Wilson Borough community and the surrounding area. This grant builds on the prior grant awarded to the community, which implemented the Wilson Area CTC. Wilson Area CTC is actively seeking additional funding through grant applications and local donors. Please email LINCS@wilsonareasd.org if you would like to assist or donate.
