The CBITS / Bounce Back program provides school-based mental health support for students who have experienced stress or trauma. These evidence-based programs help students build coping skills, manage emotions, and strengthen resilience so they can succeed both in school and in daily life.
The program is being implemented in partnership with Valley Youth House and is part of the prevention and early intervention efforts of the Wilson Area LINCS Coalition for Families and Youth.
CBITS (Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools) and Bounce Back are nationally recognized programs designed to support students experiencing symptoms related to stress, anxiety, or trauma.
Both programs use cognitive behavioral techniques to help students:
Sessions are typically delivered in small groups within the school setting by trained facilitators.
Beginning in the Spring 2026 semester, the CBITS / Bounce Back program was launched in the Wilson Area Intermediate School and three Wilson Area elementary schools. The program is facilitated by trained professionals from Valley Youth House.
This initiative is made possible through funding from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency through the Substance Abuse Education, Demand Reduction (SAEDR) grant program, which supports prevention and early intervention services for youth.
The CBITS / Bounce Back program is expected to continue during the 2026–2027 school year, allowing additional students to benefit from trauma-informed support services within their school environment.
By bringing these programs directly into schools, the Wilson Area LINCS Coalition and its partners are helping ensure that students have access to the emotional and behavioral support they need to thrive.
